Barbara Ann Corcoran

Barbara Ann Corcoran was a businesswoman, investor and speaker from the United America. The Corcoran Group, an NY-based real estate broker, was founded by Corcoran. NRT bought it in 2001 for $66 million. Corcoran later left the company. One of the show's original "Shark" investors, Corcoran has appeared in all 12 seasons of ABC's Shark Tank to date. She has participated in 53 deals as of February of 2020. The biggest was a $350,000 investment that will cover 40% of Coverplay. Corcoran was the second of 10 children born to an Irish Catholic couple of working class living in Edgewater, New Jersey. Florence was her mother, who was an errand-taker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father. He was constantly moving from one job to the next throughout Corcoran's youth. Her family sometimes depended on free food delivery from a nearby grocery store. Corcoran recalls her father as someone who was drunk often and did not treat her mother with respect. Corcoran was a struggling pupil throughout her schooling. She later discovered that she was dyslexic. Corcoran began the high school system at St. Cecilia High School Englewood after she had left her Catholic elementary school. After failing several courses in her first year of high school, Corcoran transferred to Leonia High School, where she was a D-student when she graduated.
